Web site for Fashionista 411

Fashionista 411

I designed the site for Fashionista 411 (a project of Desert Grove Media). It’s a wordpress site that I set up and modified.

I created a theme that yelled high fashion. My original idea was to use red, black and white with lots of whitespace, but as I started working on it, I shifted from the red spectrum into purples, pinks and blues.

I also designed the logo, set up hosting, got some alternative URLs, and wrote a few articles for the site.

Web site for Desert Grove Media

I designed the site for Desert Grove Media. It’s a wordpress site that I set up and modified.

The idea was to have the feeling of an opulent desert caravan of the era of Lawrence of Arabia.

Oasis in the Desert by Antal Ligeti. This image gave me inspiration for the site.

I used desert tones and a hint of palm trees to communicate this feeling.

I’m slated to be doing a lot more for them soon. Check out what my bio on the site says!

Web site for Pilates instructor Dano Gregory

(link to site)

Dano Gregori wanted a site to help define his career as a Pilates instuctor. He wanted to break away from being defined as an employee of a particular Pilates studio by defining Dano Gregori Pilates as a brand.

Dano and I met when he bought one of may paintings from a show I had near the Pilates studio he was working at in San Francisco. After taking a look at my web page portfolio, he decided to try me out as a web designer.

The logo and font were chosen before I came into the picture. I encouraged Dano to get an 800 number because his location is more or less in flux. I also encourage him to take pictures of Pilates in action which I could sprinkle throughout his web site for visual interest. The result is the danogregori.com website that you see today.

Web site for Derringer Wallet Pen

(link to site)

Derringer Wallet Pen is my father’s company. He sells pens that fit in your wallet. I gave him a web site to help sell the pens.

For Derringer Wallet Pen, I chose the color scheme of blue (#0000FF) and orange (#FF9933) with a light, almost white backgound (#EEEEEE). Orange and blue are complimentary colors. Orange is friendly and reminiscent of warm sunlight and references the quality wood of the rack that holds the pens. Blue is the color of the sky and the sea. Blue and the light grey background together are the color of the reflected steel found in the pen itself.

The web site is only two pages. It is a direct, easy to load, functional e-commerce site.
